Sprout for Life Part 1: Soaking Nuts, Seeds, Grains and Legumes

Soaking nuts, seeds, grains and legumes is the easiest way to improve a person’s nutrition.  It’s the first suggestion I make and is the most important because soaking increases the bioavailabilty of food by more than 200%.  Please do this!!!

Soaking is an ancient wisdom over 3000 years old.  Soaking releases a digestive inhibitor and phytic acid to allow these foods to be more digestible.  All it takes is some planning.

Time to prepare: a few minutes to measure and soak

Equipment:  bowl

Ingredients

Grains, seeds, nuts or legumes

Purified water

How to make

Measure the desired amount of nut, seed, grain or legume into a bowl.

Fill with water to a level 2 inches above the seeds..

Let soak for 4 to 24 hours depending on the size.  Small grains like millet take less time and legumes like chick peas take 12 to 24 hours.

Best to soak each morning for dinner and at night for breakfast.
